Local trio Buana are leading lights of the next generation of Trad groups in the north of Ireland. With each member being a multi-instrumentalist their sound is varied enough to do justice to the most upbeat jigs and reels that would make any ceili house bounce as well as having the dynamics to let airs and ballads be preformed at their most haunting and emotional.

This is an open session and all musicians of all standards are invited to play for pints along with Buana. Bring along your fiddle, flute, tin whistle, accordion, bodhrán, guitar or uilleann pipes and play along and Laverys will fill your cup.

Classic Chart Hits

The Retro Disco every Friday and Saturday night with its playlist of the hits of yesteryear and free admission policy is firmly established as one of Belfast’s top nights out for those who love to party to the sounds of the 50s, 60s, 70s & 80s. Classic album tracks from artists who made real music that has stood the test of time. Smooth Soul selections melt into jazz subcultures incorporating the worlds of big band, swing, fusion and ragtime. Beautiful acoustic ballads with harmonies to hum along to, blend into melodic soft rock scores and nostalgia filled easy listening cuts. Think Radio 1 in the 80s, think 'our tune' and Simon Bates, think Sunday mornings with Noel Edmonds and the Hairy Cornflake. Something akin to the best wedding disco ever where there’s no need to worry about pleasing the kids. The Retro Disco brings you chart smashes from the golden era of pop. The soundtrack combines a selection of floor fillers from across the ages, just like the classic “Top of the Pops” albums with the hippy chic ladies on the cover only with original artists and recordings.

Saint Patrick’s Day @ Laverys

For many St Patricks day is the high light of the year, pints of the black stuff, big bowls of Irish Stew and some fiddle and diddle and dee. With its celebrations this year Laverys encompass all aspects of Irish culture with a feast of drink, food and music gaged to suit all tastes and age groups all served with a touch of green.

Resident traditional folk group Buana bring their own slant to traditional favourites with an open session kicking off at 5pm, all musicians are welcome to come along and join the session. The Retro Irish Disco with Dj John Ellis takes over at 7pm with a selection of fun filled Irish hits which will have everyone leaping like a leprechaun. Admission is free all night.
